New Delhi, March 20 -- The Supreme Court on Friday allowed a petition filed by director Sujoy Ghosh seeking to quash a criminal case filed under Section 63 of the Copyright Act, 1957, on the allegation that his movie "Kahaani 2: Durga Rani Singh" was based on a stolen script.

A bench of Justices Pamidighantam Sri Narasimha and Alok Aradhe quashed the criminal proceedings against the national award-winning scriptwriter, which was pending before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Hazaribagh, Jharkhand.

A complaint was filed before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Hazaribagh, by Umesh Prasad Mehta, who alleged that the script of Vidya Balan starrer "Kahaani 2", a sequel to the movie "Kahaani", infringed the copyright of his script titled "Sabak"....
