Thiruvananthapuram, April 7 -- Public campaigning for the Assembly polls will come to a close at 6 pm on Tuesday, after which the mandatory 48-hour "silence period" will take effect in accordance with Section 126 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, ahead of polling.

With the countdown to voting entering its final phase, Chief Electoral Officer Dr. Rathan U. Kelkar has announced stringent restrictions aimed at ensuring a free, fair, and fear-free electoral process. The curbs will remain in force until the conclusion of polling.
