Bengaluru, July 22 -- The Election Commission on Wednesday clarified that the names of 17.2 lakh Karnataka voters whose details could not be matched with the 2002 electoral rolls will not be deleted automatically, even as they will receive notices after the publication of the draft electoral rolls on August 17 for further verification.
Chief Electoral Officer V Anbukumar said the affected electors would be given an opportunity to establish their eligibility before Electoral Registration Officers take a final decision on their inclusion in the electoral rolls.
