Raipur, July 13 -- Chhattisgarh is set to expand its medical education capacity after the National Medical Commission (NMC) approved the establishment of five new government medical colleges for the 2026-27 academic session.
The medical colleges will be established at Geedam in Dantewada district, Kunkuri in Jashpur district, Manendragarh, Janjgir-Champa and Kabirdham.
Each college has been sanctioned 50 MBBS seats, taking the total to 250 undergraduate medical seats in the state.
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai welcomed the approval and described it as a significant milestone for Chhattisgarh's healthcare and medical education sectors.
