New Delhi, Aug. 29 -- NITI Aayog Vice Chairperson Dr Ashok K. Lahiri visited the Siachen Base Camp and undertook an aerial reconnaissance of the Northern Glacier, witnessing first-hand the extreme terrain and harsh conditions in which Indian Army personnel remain deployed to guard the country's frontiers.
According to a post shared by NITI Aayog on X on Saturday, Dr. Lahiri was accompanied by a team during the visit. He was briefed by the Commander, Siachen Brigade, on the operational environment and challenges faced by troops deployed in the high-altitude glacier region.
