Imphal, May 9 -- Security forces and Manipur Police carried out a series of operations across the state on May 7 and 8, leading to the arrest of nine active insurgent cadres, extortionists and drug traffickers, while narcotic substances, arms, cash and vehicles were seized from their possession, police said on Saturday.

In an operation conducted on May 7, security forces arrested an active cadre of KNA (B) from the Zou Veng general area under Churachandpur Police Station. The arrested Kuki militant was identified as Lalthangjohn of Khaominthang village in Churachandpur district.

Security personnel recovered one 9 mm Hawg 9 pistol, one pistol magazine, seven live rounds of 9 mm ammunition and one mobile phone from his possession.
