Aizawl, June 12 -- In a major anti-narcotics operation, officials of the Mizoram Excise & Narcotics Department, assisted by personnel of the Assam Rifles and members of the Central Anti-Drug Squad (CADS) of the Central Young Mizo Association (YMA), seized 740 grams of heroin and arrested nine suspected traffickers, during a pre-dawn raid in Aizawl district on Friday.
According to Excise & Narcotics Department spokesperson Peter Zohmingthanga, the operation was carried out at New Vervek village around 2:30 am following specific intelligence inputs regarding the movement of narcotics from neighbouring Manipur towards Aizawl.
