Aizawl, Sept. 20 -- Former Congress MLA Nihar Kanti Chakma has apologised for his earlier remarks describing Tlabung as the "homeland" of the Chakma people and claiming that the area had been part of the Chittagong Hill Tracts before coming under British administration.

Chakma said on Saturday that the remarks were the result of an error he made while experimenting with artificial intelligence (AI) on his phone. He said the statement he had written contained serious errors, including his reference to Tlabung as the Chakma homeland and his claim about its historical association with the Chittagong Hill Tracts before the British brought the area under their administration.
