Bengaluru, July 8 -- Karnataka's Ballari district came under the National Investigation Agency (NIA) scanner on Wednesday as the anti-terror agency carried out coordinated searches in a nationwide operation targeting an alleged online radicalisation and terror propaganda network linked to banned organisations ISIS and Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS).

The searches in Ballari formed part of simultaneous raids at 20 locations across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Delhi. The operation was launched following intelligence gathered from the interrogation of arrested suspects and forensic examination of seized digital devices.
