Lucknow, April 13 -- The National Human Rights Commission of India will conduct a virtual hearing on April 16 to review 216 cases of alleged bonded labour in brick kilns across multiple districts of Uttar Pradesh.

The session, at 11:30 am, will be held at its headquarters in New Delhi and chaired by NHRC Chairperson Justice V. Ramasubramanian, according to an official communique released here on Monday evening.

This initiative reflects the Commission's continued efforts to eliminate bonded labour and enforce the provisions of the Bonded Labour System (Abolition) Act, 1976, along with oversight responsibilities assigned by the Supreme Court of India.
