New Delhi, April 13 -- The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) will conduct an online hearing of 216 cases of alleged bonded labour in brick kilns across multiple districts of Uttar Pradesh on April 16.
The proceedings will be held at the Commission's premises in New Delhi from 11:30 AM. NHRC Chairperson Justice V. Ramasubramanian will preside over the virtual hearing, ensuring compliance with the Bonded Labour System (Abolition) Act, 1976.
The Commission has directed the Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh or a designated representative, the Labour Commissioner, and all District Magistrates concerned to remain present during the hearing.
