Bhubaneswar, May 30 -- The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has issued summons to Odisha Chief Secretary and several senior government officials, directing their personal appearance before the Commission on July 9 over alleged non-compliance with its earlier orders regarding the provision of basic civic amenities in a densely populated area of Cuttack city.

Taking a serious view of what it termed as "willful disobedience" of its directions, the Commission has summoned the Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary of the Transport Department, Cuttack Collector and District Magistrate, Superintendent of Police (HRPC), and the Municipal Commissioner of Cuttack Municipal Corporation.
