Hyderabad/New Delhi, Feb. 22 -- The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has registered a case over the death of a two-month-old infant following an alleged caste-based attack during the Kummera Mallanna Jathara held in Kummera village of Nagarkurnool district, Telangana on Feb 18.
According to reports, a family belonging to the Backward Class (OBC) community - Chakali Chandrakala, her son Sakali Ganesh and daughter-in-law Mounika - had gone to the temple for darshan when they were allegedly stopped at the entrance and denied entry.
The family alleged that upper-caste individuals, including the village sarpanch, attacked them.
