Lucknow, July 29 -- The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has taken suo motu cognizance of media reports alleging that a five-year-old boy studying at a private school in Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi district was subjected to torture and inhuman treatment by his teacher.
According to the reports, the teacher, allegedly enraged after the boy urinated in his pants, took him to the school kitchen and branded his private parts with a hot knife.
The Commission observed that the allegations, if true, raise serious concerns over the violation of the child's human rights.
Accordingly, on Wednesday, the NHRC issued notices to the Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary and the Varanasi Police Commissioner, seeking a detailed report on the incident within...
