Bhubaneswar, May 19 -- The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is set to launch Odisha's first-ever Bee Corridor project with the onset of the monsoon season in June, aiming to promote biodiversity and strengthen honey bee conservation.

As part of the initiative, around 20,000 flowering plants and trees will be planted along national highways passing through Sambalpur, Berhampur and Dhenkanal.

The plantation drive will feature species such as Neem, Karanj, Arjun, Kadamba, Jamun, Tamarind and Kanchan, creating a continuous green corridor designed to bloom throughout the year. The selected species are expected to provide a favourable habitat for honeybees and other pollinators.
