Oslo, Sept. 21 -- Kenya's Agnes Ngetich broke the women's-only half marathon world record and Sweden's Andreas Almgren set a European record as they won titles at the World Athletics Road Running Championships in Copenhagen.
Ngetich led from the start to win the women's race in 1 hour, 5 minutes and 15 seconds on Sunday, shaving one second off the previous record set by compatriot Peres Jepchirchir in 2020. The mark is subject to ratification by World Athletics.
The victory gave Ngetich her second global title of the year after she won the world cross-country championships in January.
Kenya's Veronica Loleo finished 50 seconds behind in 1:06:05 to take silver, while Rwanda's Florence Niyonkuru claimed bronze in a national record of 1:06:...
