New Jersey, June 13 -- Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed Neymar will miss Brazil's opening match of the FIFA World Cup 2026 against Morocco here on Saturday.

The Rio 2016 Olympic gold medallist has been sidelined with a calf injury and has yet to returnto full training with the squad.

Ancelotti said Neymar is expected to rejoin the group next week, though that timeline leaves his availability for Brazil's second group match against Haiti June 20 in doubt, according to olympics.com.

"Neymar is working very hard to recover as quickly as possible," Ancelotti told the media.
