Agartala, Sept. 2 -- A purported attempt to unlawfully hand over a newborn for adoption was prevented through the collaborative efforts of a child rights protection body - Child Line, the local administration in Laxmicherra village of Shantirbazar in South Tripura onday, police said here on Wednesday.
According to the report, the newborn was rescued two days after it was reportedly given to another couple and subsequently presented before the District Child Welfare Committee (CWC). The child was born to Harendra Tripura and Manimala Tripura of Laxmicherra on August 25.
