Itanagar, July 22 -- Scientists from the Botanical Survey of India (BSI) have discovered a new plant species, Disporum yobinorum, in the remote Vijoynagar region of Arunachal Pradesh, adding another significant milestone to the state's rich biodiversity.
Sharing the development, Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein said the newly identified species has been named in honour of the Yobin Tribe and the Gorkha community in recognition of their invaluable support and traditional ecological knowledge, which contributed to the discovery.
The findings have been published in the international botanical journal Phytotaxa.
