Kolkata, May 23 -- The new government in West Bengal under Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has made a significant departure from the administrative style associated with former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee by reducing the number of government holidays for Bakri Eid, officially known as Eid-al-Adha.

Earlier this year, the former chief minister had announced holidays on May 26 and 27 for the festival, but in a fresh notification issued from Nabanna on Saturday, the new administration revised the schedule and declared only a single holiday on May 28, Thursday, for Bakri Eid.
