Jerusalem, Aug. 5 -- Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has publicly rejected US President Donald Trump's Board of Peace proposal for a gradual Hamas disarmament in exchange for a phased Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, saying Israel neither drafted nor accepted the plan.

In a video posted on Facebook, Netanyahu said the proposal had been submitted by the Trump administration for Israel's consideration but was returned with Israeli amendments.

"President Trump thinks, or his team thinks, that they can get Hamas to disarm and demilitarise Gaza. We are looking into it. They sent us a draft. We did not agree to it. It was not our draft. We sent back our comments," Netanyahu said, according to The Times of Israel.
