Kathmandu, May 17 -- Two veteran Nepali mountaineers etched their names deeper into climbing history after setting new world records on Mount Everest, according to media reports on Sunday.
Legendary climber Kami Rita Sherpa scaled Everest for a record-extending 32nd time, while Lhakpa Sherpa set a new women's record by reaching the summit for the 11th time, the Himalayan Times reported.
Kami Rita, 55, had hinted on social media before the expedition that this could be his final ascent of the world's highest peak. However, officials from the expedition company later said he may still consider attempting a 33rd climb after returning to base camp.
