Kathmandu, Aug. 30 -- The death toll from devastating flash floods and landslides in Nepal has risen to 750, while nearly 3,000 people remain missing, authorities and local media reported on Sunday, as rescue teams continued to search through mud and debris for survivors.
In Nepal, 2,498 people are still missing, including 933 hydropower workers, 589 foreign nationals and 127 Nepalis travelling with foreign tourists, according to local reports. While 16 deaths have been reported in Tibet, 546 people are missing.
Nearly 20,000 security personnel have been deployed in Nepal. Helicopters have evacuated 279 hydropower workers and 227 foreign nationals from affected areas.
