Bengaluru, Aug. 27 -- At least eight people from Karnataka are feared to have died in devastating floods in Nepal, while several others from the state remain untraceable, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara said on Thursday.

The state government has stepped up efforts to ascertain the whereabouts of Kannadigas stranded in the flood-hit areas and facilitate their safe evacuation.

Speaking to reporters, Dr Parameshwara said the government was in constant touch with authorities and was making arrangements to provide all possible assistance to Karnataka residents caught in the disaster.
