Bhubaneswar, May 12 -- Participants of the 21st Puri Heritage Walks (PHW) expressed concern over the deteriorating condition of several historic and cultural sites in the pilgrim town, saying many invaluable heritage structures are gradually fading into oblivion.
The heritage walk, organised on May 10, began from the nearly 300-year-old Maniram Matha near Marichikote Square on the Grand Road. Established by saint Maniram Das, the monastery belongs to the Ramanandi sect and is locally known as "Kakudia Matha".
Mahant Abhiram Das said though the Math does not directly participate in rituals of the Jagannath Temple, it continues the tradition of offering "Panti Bhoga" during ceremonial processions of Lord Jagannath outside the shrine.
