Kolkata, May 25 -- : Senior IAS officer Neelam Meena has been appointed as the Chief Electoral Officer of West Bengal on Monday by the Election Commission of India (ECI).
Meena was inducted in place of Monoj Kuamr Agarwal because the post was lying vacant after Agarwal was elevated as the state's Chief Secretary.
Meena, a 1998-batch IAS officer, is currently serving as the Principal Secretary of the Consumer Affairs Department in the West Bengal government.
She was among the three officers whose names were recommended by the state government to the ECI for consideration for the top electoral post in the state.
