Nahan, Aug. 22 -- The Transport Department has intensified its crackdown on overloaded vehicles in Nahan, collecting nearly Rs 8 lakh in fines from tipper-trailer and other heavy vehicle operators for traffic violations in a single day.
The action came amid growing concerns over overloaded vehicles disrupting traffic and increasing the risk of accidents on NH-07 between Kala Amb and Paonta Sahib.
RTO Sirmaur Sona Chauhan said a vehicle met with an accident near Khajurna Bridge in Nahan on Friday, following which a Transport Department team reached the spot and stepped up enforcement against vehicles violating traffic norms.
