Aizawl, Sept. 22 -- Nearly half a kilogram of heroin was seized during a joint operation by Mizoram Excise and Narcotics officials and Assam Rifles personnel along the Mizoram-Myanmar border on Tuesday, with one person arrested for alleged possession and trafficking of the contraband.
The seizure of 492.160 grams of heroin was made at about 2 pm on a road connecting Zote and Bulfek villages in Champhai district, Excise and Narcotics department spokesperson Peter Zohmingthanga said.
The arrested man was identified as Pauchinthanga, 46, of New Champhai locality in Champhai town.
The department alleged that he was carrying the heroin for trafficking after procuring it from Myanmar.
