Patna, March 16 -- The National Democratic Alliance on Monday clinched all five seats in the biennial Rajya Sabha elections from Bihar, turning the contest into a politically significant victory after several opposition legislators abstained from voting.

While the NDA remained intact, the Grand Alliance ( GA) camp emerged as a divided house, as four of its legislators were absent during the voting.

The NDA camp polled 202 votes, while the GA got only 37.

Candidates of the ruling alliance, state chief minister Nitish Kumar and Ramnath Thakur of the Janata Dal (United), Nitin Nabin and Shivesh Ram of the Bharatiya Janata Party and Upendra Kushwaha of the Rashtriya Lok Morcha were declared elected to the Upper House.
