Mumbai, March 24 -- The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) on Tuesday said it would seek an unopposed by-election in Maharashtra's Baramati Assembly seat, with senior leader Sunil Tatkare confirming that the party will initiate discussions with Opposition parties to build consensus.
The bypolls for the Baramati constituency in Pune district and the Rahuri seat in Ahilyanagar have been necessitated following the deaths of former deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar and BJP legislator Shivaji Kardile. The Election Commission of India has scheduled polling for April 23.
