Mumbai, June 8 -- The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP-Ajit Pawar faction) has finalized the nomination of industrialist Rajendra Jain for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections, a move that has effectively sidelined party veteran Chhagan Bhujbal and brought underlying tensions within the Mahayuti alliance to the fore.
The decision, confirmed late Sunday, follows a period of intense negotiation regarding the party's representation in the Upper House. Sources close to the development revealed that Bhujbal, a senior leader and prominent OBC face, had been a frontrunner for the seat.
