Mumbai, July 26 -- The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has seized 10.990 kg of ephedrine concealed in three international courier parcels bound for New Zealand and arrested a key accused from Chennai, officials said on Sunday.

Acting on specific intelligence, the NCB's Mumbai Zonal Unit intercepted two courier parcels on July 21 and another on July 25. The banned substance was hidden inside household items to avoid detection.

Officials said the first two parcels, intercepted in Mumbai, were declared as floor mats. During examination, 7 kg of ephedrine was found concealed between layers of floor mats and cloth rolls. The shipping documents attached to the parcels were found to be fake.
