Mumbai, Aug. 15 -- The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has confirmed the preventive detention of alleged drug kingpin Navin Gurunath Chichkar under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PITNDPS) Act, 1988, for one year.

Chichkar was shifted from Yerwada Central Jail in Pune to Puzhal Central Prison in Chennai on June 16 and will remain in preventive detention for one year from the date of his detention.

The detention order, issued on May 15 this year by the Joint Secretary (PITNDPS), Government of India, was confirmed by the Tamil Nadu State Advisory Board on August 13, the NCB Mumbai said in a statement on Saturday.
