Bhubaneswar, May 2 -- Leader of Opposition and former Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday urged union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to ensure immediate accountability in the shocking Keonjhar incident where a tribal man had to exhume his sister's skeletal remains and carry them to a bank as proof of her death to claim pending dues.

In a letter to the union Finance Minister, Patnaik expressed deep anguish over the April 27 incident at the Malliposi branch of Odisha Gramya Bank in Keonjhar district.

He said Jitu Munda, after making repeated unsuccessful visits to the bank and receiving neither assistance nor clarity from officials, was compelled to bring the skeletal remains of his deceased sister to establish her death....
