Bhubaneswar, May 1 (UNI ) Biju Janata Dal (BJD) president and Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik on Friday demanded that the minimum wage for workers in Odisha be raised to Rs 800 per day, citing rising market prices and the growing cost of living.Addressing a May Day gathering at the Biju Shramik Samukhya headquarters in Bhubaneswar, Patnaik said the wage revision had become necessary to protect workers' livelihoods amid current economic conditions.Paying tribute to former Chief Minister Biju Patnaik, whom he described as a true champion of labourers, Naveen recalled Biju Babu's landmark initiatives for workers, including a significant increase in minimum wages and the introduction of equal pay for women to promote social justice.He said ...
