Bengaluru, March 28 -- Senior BJP leader Chalavadi Narayanaswamy on Saturday launched a scathing attack on the Congress-led Karnataka government over its Rs 4.48 lakh crore budget, terming it a "loan-driven, deficit exercise," while strongly pitching Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a decisive national leader.

Addressing reporters after the Budget Session, Narayanaswamy said the state budget - with borrowings of Rs 1.32 lakh crore - was pushing Karnataka into a debt trap. He framed his criticism by contrasting state governance with what he described as strong and strategic leadership at the Centre.
