Bhubaneswar, May 28 -- The National Alliance of People's Movements (NAPM), an umbrella platform of civil society organisations engaged in non-violent struggles to protect natural resources, on Thursday urged the union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change to reject the proposed environmental clearance for Vedanta's bauxite mining project in Odisha's Sijimali region.
Addressing a press conference in Bhubaneswar, NAPM leaders Prafulla Samantara and Narendra Mahanti also demanded that the Odisha government withdraw the mining lease granted for the project.
