Mumbai, Oct. 8 -- Veteran actor Nana Patekar, 75, died on Thursday after suffering a cardiac arrest at his residence in Dona Paula, Goa, sending shockwaves through the Marathi and Hindi film industries.

Patekar was found unconscious at his Dona Paula residence and was taken to Manipal Hospital, Goa, at around 4.30 a.m. Doctors attempted continuous cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for about 45 minutes, but he could not be revived, according to Dr Shekhar Salkar, Chief of Oncology at the hospital.

Condolences poured in from political leaders, including Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, union Minister Nitin Gadkari and others.
