Bhubaneswar, Sept. 7 -- National Aluminium Company Ltd (NALCO) on Monday signed an agreement with Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA) for deploying its DX Ultra technology in NALCO's proposed 0.5 million tonne per annum (MTPA) brownfield smelter expansion at Angul.

The technology licensing agreement, signed in Dubai, will enable EGA to provide NALCO with the technology licence, technical know-how, designs and technical support for the project.

The high-amperage DX Ultra technology is designed to improve smelting productivity and energy efficiency while optimising capital and operating costs.

The expansion will add 0.5 MTPA to NALCO's aluminium production capacity, taking the company towards an overall capacity of around 1 MTPA.
