Dimapur, June 16 -- Nagaland minister for environment, forest & climate change CL Johnon Tuesday said the state is all set to emerge as a key player in the Agarwood sector after the state cabinet approved the Nagaland Agarwood (Conservation and Promotion) Policy, 2026, recently.
He said the policy is aimed at encouraging Agarwood cultivation on private and community lands, generating employment opportunities, strengthening rural livelihoods, and conserving the endangered species in its natural habitat.
Addressing an awareness workshop on cultivation and trade of Agarwood at the Dimapur forest office complex, John stressed the importance of promoting Agarwood cultivation as a sustainable livelihood opportunity.
