Dimapur, March 13 -- Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Thursday stressed the importance of avoiding multiple entries during the upcoming census enumeration, saying the Census 2027 would be a significant and important exercise for the state.

Referring to Nagaland as a predominantly Christian state, he appealed to all participants not to take pride in wrongful practices or unhealthy competition, but instead to uphold honesty and integrity in the conduct of the census.

Rio was addressing a briefing session on Census 2027 at the state banquet hall in the chief minister's residential complex in Kohima.

He noted that the decadal population growth rate of Nagaland has shown inconsistencies when compared to the national average.
