Krishnagar, May 30 -- Nabadwip Municipality chairman Biman Krishna Saha was arrested after a massive stockpile of state-issued relief supplies was recovered from a clubhouse adjoining his residence, intensifying scrutiny of the alleged misuse of public welfare resources by Trinamool Congress functionaries under the previous TMC regime.
Saha was produced before the court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Ashok Haldar, in Krishnagar on Saturday, along with another accused, Sourav Saha, an employee attached to a ferry ghat in Nabadwip. After hearing submissions from both sides, the court remanded them to seven days of police custody.
