Mumbai, April 30 -- Even though Shiv Sena (Thackeray faction) leader Ambadas Danve is being projected as the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) candidate for the Legislative Council elections, Maharashtra Congress chief Harshvardhan Sapkal has hinted that the party may field its own candidate. This has created an atmosphere of uncertainty within the opposition alliance.

Earlier, there was a broad consensus within the MVA around Shiv Sena (Thackeray faction) chief Uddhav Thackeray contesting the election. Leaders across allied parties had expressed a desire for Thackeray to enter the fray. However, in a surprising move, Uddhav Thackeray chose to stay away from the contest and instead announced Ambadas Danve as the party's candidate.
