Muzaffarpur, July 4 -- A grocery trader was shot dead by unidentified assailants on visiting a temple at Dera Chowk under Siwaipatti police station area here today.
According to police, the deceased identified as Shyam Sundar Prasad, a resident of Paigambarpur village, had visited the temple at Dera Chowk for his daily morning prayers when the attack took place.
Police said motorcycle-borne attackers, who were allegedly lying in wait, opened indiscriminate fire on Prasad, leaving him critically injured. The assailants fled the scene after carrying out the attack.
Hearing the gunshots, local residents rushed to the spot and alerted the police.
