Kolkata, May 28 -- A man from Murshidabad district in West Bengal, whose name does not feature in the electoral rolls, was arrested for allegedly receiving benefits under the women-specific Lakshmir Bhandar scheme for nearly one and a half years, police said on Thursday.

The accused, identified as Rakibul Sheikh of Shialmara village in Berhampore, was taken into custody shortly after Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari referred to the case while unveiling the application form for the newly launched Annapurna Yojana at Nabanna.
