Mumbai, July 1 -- Mumbai Police have enhanced charges against Fayaz Premji, 39, accused of allegedly distributing capsules containing highly toxic zinc phosphide during a Muharram procession, an official said here on Wednesday.
Police have invoked charges of attempt to murder and attempt to commit culpable homicide against the accused, who is presently in the custody of Byculla Police.
Premji was arrested on June 25 near Rehmatabad Cemetery in the Reay Road area, where thousands had gathered for the Muharram procession. Police seized 14,900 capsules allegedly filled with the poisonous substance.
