Mumbai, Aug. 26 -- In view of the forthcoming festive season, the Mumbai Police have imposed a prohibitory order banning the carrying of weapons, explosives and other potentially dangerous articles across Brihanmumbai from August 29 to September 27, officials said.

The order has been issued by Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) Akbar Pathan under Section 37(1) and (2) of the Maharashtra Police Act, 1951, with the objective of maintaining public peace and ensuring public safety during the festival period.

Under the order, carrying arms including swords, spears, knives, sticks, lathis, bludgeons, unlicensed firearms and other articles capable of causing physical harm or violence has been prohibited, unless specifically permitted by ...
