Puri, July 10 -- A multipurpose articulated water tower will be deployed for the first time during the annual Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath and his siblings on July 16 to help lower temperatures and provide relief to devotees, Puri Fire Services officials said on Friday.

The specialised machine, recently provided by the Odisha government to the Puri Fire Services unit, is primarily designed for firefighting operations in high-rise buildings and hotels. During the Rath Yatra, however, it will be used to create an artificial rain-like spray if temperatures rise significantly.
