Patna, June 26 -- Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) president and former Bihar chief minister Lalu Prasad on Friday said Muharram conveys the message of "sacrifice, patience and humanity", urging people to observe the occasion in an atmosphere of peace, communal harmony and mutual brotherhood.
In a joint statement issued along with former Bihar chief minister Rabri Devi, Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, MP Misa Bharti and other senior RJD leaders, Prasad recalled the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain and extended greetings to the Muslim community.
The leaders said Muharram keeps alive the memory of Karbala and inspires people to uphold truth and justice while standing against oppression.
