Mumbai, June 23 -- In a significant move aimed at averting a potential statewide strike, the Maharashtra government on Tuesday announced a major increase in allowances for employees of the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC).
State Transport Minister and MSRTC Chairman Pratap Sarnaik announced the decision on the floor of the Legislative Assembly, stating that the government has approved a substantial hike in the Dearness Allowance (DA) and House Rent Allowance (HRA) for the 86,000 employees of the corporation.
Under the new directives, the DA for MSRTC employees has been raised from 53 per cent to 58 per cent, bringing it on par with the rates applicable to other state government staff. Additionally, the House Rent Allow...
